25+ YEARS

Lotie Brink has more than 25 years of criminal investigation experience, with a substantial part of his career spent in the Organised Crime environment. His work has included serious and complex criminal matters, commercial crime, technology-enabled offences and investigations requiring the careful coordination of physical and digital evidence.

He began specialising in digital forensics in 2005 and received advanced training in the forensic acquisition, preservation, examination and analysis of digital devices and data. His practical experience extends across computers, mobile devices, storage media, CCTV systems, cloud sources, email evidence and malware-related incidents.

In 2009, Lotie was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. This combination of investigative, forensic and legal experience enables him to translate technical findings into objective, understandable and legally defensible evidence for attorneys, advocates, investigators, corporates and private clients.

He previously headed the Hawks Digital Forensic Laboratory in the Western Cape and today leads Digital Detective's forensic and investigative practice.

Mias Engelbrecht brings more than 36 years of service in law enforcement, including over 30 years as an Investigating Officer. His career has been defined by integrity, precision and extensive experience in the investigation and presentation of serious criminal matters.

Since 2005, Mias has integrated digital forensics into his investigative work and completed specialist training in the acquisition and analysis of mobile devices, computers and electronic evidence. His experience includes mobile and computer examinations, CCTV evidence, data recovery, evidential preservation and forensic reporting.

Mias is widely respected for his ability to explain complex findings clearly and impartially. His courtroom experience, combined with his investigative and forensic expertise, makes him a trusted expert witness and a senior member of the Digital Detective team.
